Steamcon II: A steampunk convention

Call it Victorian science fiction, altered history, or yesterday’s tomorrows; steampunk has captured the imaginations and hearts of many people.   Seattle’s first steampunk convention, Steamcon I drew over 1,300 fans last year and expects even for this year. Steamcon II will be taking place at the lovely Seattle Airport Marriott hotel and the neighboring Hilton on November 19-21st 2010. Steamcon II will be three days worth of panel discussions, demonstrations, and talks about the literary genre/music genre/fashion movement/ and do-it-yourselfers dream that is steampunk. The convention will be hosting an art exhibition, a vendor’s room, a cabaret, a film room, games rooms, dances, a concert and much more. 
 

James Blaylock, one of the father’s of steampunk will be this year’s Author Guest of Honor. The Artist Guest of Honor is the dapper and popular steampunk “maker”, Jake Von Slatt. Shane Hensley , the creator of Deadlands, a popular role playing game, will be appearing as the Games Guest of Honor.

Special events:
Friday night will be the debut of the Airship Awards Banquet, an evening to honor the most outstanding creators in the steampunk community.
 
Saturday afternoon and repeating on Sunday morning,  there will be a true Victorian tea party complete with a fashion show showcasing the fantastic creations of the future past by many talented steampunk designers. 

Saturday night's concert will feature Bakelite 78, Ghoultown and the popular local steampunk band of airship pirates, Abney Park.

 
Memberships for the weekend are available now on the website: www.steamcon.org. Cost for the weekend is $45 for adults, $25 for teens, and $245 for special patron level memberships. Prices will be higher at the door, if they do not sell out by that time. Tickets for the tea party and concert will go on sale shortly at the website: www.steamcon.org. Memberships are also required for entry to the special events. For more info go to steamcon.org or drop us an email at info@steamcon.org.
