Writer Emilie P. Bush joins as Marketing Director.
The Steampunk Chronicle is pleased to announce the newest member of its editorial family, author and journalist Emilie P. Bush. In a year of amazing growth for the SPC is laying the foundation for even bigger changes in 2012 with the addition of Ms. Bush as she takes the position of Marketing Director. While continuing in her previous role of writing book and film reviews for SPC, Ms. Bush will also be launching several new ventures with the organization, including the SPC Reader’s Choice Award in 2012 and expanding the paper’s editorial content.
With a background in journalism and public relations, writer Emilie P. Bush has worked with Atlanta’s premier Steampunk event company, The Artifice Club, and has been a Senior Reporter for and the host of Georgia Public Broadcasting’s Georgia Gazette. She is frequently interviews and quoted by CNN’s “Geek Out” blog as a Steampunk expert. Her award-winning work has been featured on the BBC World Service and on NPR. In recent years, Ms. Bush has written two Steampunk novels. Her first, Chenda and the Airship Brofman, has been called a "ripping good yarn!" and the tale was a 2010 Semi-finalist for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. New in 2011, The Gospel According to Verdu picks up the epic story of the crew of the Brofman where the adventures of Chenda left off - high in the skies. In February, she will launch the first ever Steampunk picture book: Her Majesty’s Explorer: a Steampunk Bedtime Story, illustrated by William Kevin Petty.
Ms. Bush, a familiar face at conventions across the U.S., covers book ans film reviews for SPC, and will manage the Chronicle's sponsorships and appearances at Steampunk and science fiction conventions.
