FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Extraordinary Contraptions Welcome New Drummer

The band will also be releasing a new album after successful Kickstarter campaign.

ATLANTA, Jan. 23, 2012 - The Extraordinary Contraptions recently announced that Teodore Birchard will be joining the band as their new drummer. He will be replacing Corbin Abel Welch, who parted ways with the band in September 2011.

"Starting immediately... Teodore Birchard will be providing propulsive rhythms to help us go beyond the previous Contrapulotronic standard that our fans have come to expect," the band said in a formal statement on January 23. "We are extremely excited for Teodore to join our ranks!" According to Birchard's biography, he is a "chemist and hobbyist imbiber" who fell into The Extraordinary Contraptions's dimension after misreading a sign on the very contraption the band is name for.

Birchard's entrance into the band is only one of The Contraptions' many initiatives planned for 2012. After starting the year off with a successful campaign on Kickstarter.com,The Extraordinary Contraptions will release The Time Traveler's Constant in the Spring. "It's our most ambitious album to date," says keyboardist Sephora Bostwick, "It is unlike anything else we've done before. We know fans are excited for it, and we get excited just thinking about it!" The band will also roll out a new website and tour dates shortly thereafter.

The Extraordinary Contraptions are a Steampunk rock band based out of Atlanta. Formed in 2007, they have spent the past four years wowing crowds in their own backyard and across the country. Their music features on The Clockwork Cabaret radio show and the GSTV sitcom Sophomores. Their previous albums, Inappropriate on Purpose and Scratch the Aether, are available for purchase on bandcamp.com as well as the band's website.
