Just in time for Dragon Con, The Girls of the Con have another calendar for their loyal followers. GOTC founders Traci Tant and Jason L. Bohannon started their celebration of cosplayers in 2007 with the goal of bringing to light some of the best costumes in sci -fi, fantasy, comic, and horror cons around the world.
Their annual calendar – as Tant says, is “Always family friendly and open to all cosplayers regardless of age, weight, height, religious belief, ethnicity, or otherwise.” It will be of interest this year to SpC readers that there are not one but TWO months featuring Steampunk ladies.
Steampunk Cosplayer JJ Cirrus graces the month of April 2014. According to SpC Editrix de Mode Wilhelmina Frame, Ms. April wears a corset and gown created by Anthony Canney of House of Canney. JJ is very involved with the Steampunk community, and is very involved in Shenanigans at conventions in and around the southeast. You can see more on Ms. Cirrus in our Featured Fashionistas from this past Spring.
And the year ends with author and SpC Editor-in-Chief Emilie P. Bush, surrounded by her works and the works of her partner and illustrator William Kevin Petty.
Calendars are available for pre order through the 28th at a discounted price. Many of the women featured in the 2014 calendar will be on hand at the launch party in Atlanta Thursday August 29th at the Big Kahunan restaurant. Women interested in becoming calendar girls can apply through the GOTC website.
